Our story began over a decade ago. With an unwavering vision, Two Sisters Vineyards realizes our family passion to bring an extraordinary wine and culinary experience to the heart of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Our story is rooted in crafting ultra-premium, Niagara wines that can be recognized on the global stage. Located in the heart of the Niagara River sub-appellation, our winery, Estate and vineyards span over 130 acres across this remarkable part of Ontario. Planted varietals include Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petite Verdot, Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc. Though we take a non-interventionist approach to winemaking, our talented winemaking team crafts impressive wines ranging from complex full-bodied reds to elegant terroir-driven whites.
Inspired by our Italian heritage, our family wanted to bring a little bit of Europe to the Niagara River. The landmark Estate pays homage to the exquisite architecture of Europe while embracing the beauty of Niagara wine country. The main Estate, which opened doors in November 2014, was inspired by Italian Renaissance design, which was made popular by the 16th century Venetian architect, Andrea Palladio. The Estate and surrounding grounds have been laid out much like our wines – with great respect for nature, attention to detail and thoughtful design.
Just off the majestic brick-ceiled entrance hallway stands our Estate Barrel Cellar. Rising two stories high, it holds over 180 of the finest barrels and casks, quietly aging our red varietals. Part of our brand ethos is rooted in our determination to craft age-worthy, complex wines from our Estate vineyards. This makes the role of oak-aging essential. All four of the great oak forests of France are represented in the cooperage. Some additional barrels from American Oak are also included, adding a special lightness and perfume to select wines. All are held on custom cradles that allow each barrel to be individually rotated for ease when stirring lees. More than any other of our spaces, the Barrel Cellar makes one pause in awe and experience the time-honoured tradition of aging and finishing special wines.
